Arizona State Limnology and Oceanography Extravaganza
The Neuer lab ventured west to San Diego, CA, in August 2010 for the inaugural “Arizona State Limnology and Oceanography Extravaganza Conference.” Lab members gave talks on their recent research in two sessions: Jessica Amacher, Charles Baysinger, Amy Hansen, and Ali Freibott spoke about their work on samples from the Bermuda Atlantic Time-series Study, while Susanne Neuer, Tyler Sawyer, and Shikha Gupta presented on the Central Arizona Reservoirs project. Former lab member Alexis Pasulka, who is now completing graduate work at the Scripps Institute of Oceanography, spoke about her recent research cruises, including her deep-sea trip inside the submersible Alvin.
Alexis coordinated a fascinating tour of the Scripps Oceanographic Collections. The trip also included a morning spent enjoying the diverse exhibits at the Birch Aquarium. Between talks and tours, the group found time to dig their toes into the sand and appreciate an ocean sunset before returning to landlocked Phoenix.
